What you're actually getting

This is a 0.7L vacuum-insulated beer stein from Stanley. Hammertone Green, that classic army-surplus finish that makes it look like it survived a camping trip in 1987. The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps cold drinks cold for around seven hours, which sounds like marketing fluff until you're sat in the garden on a warm afternoon and your lager is still genuinely cold an hour in. That's the moment you get it.

The handle is proper sturdy. Not a spindly afterthought. You can hold this thing with a full hand and it feels right. The opening is wide enough to actually drink from comfortably, unlike some travel mugs where you're essentially sipping through a letterbox.

Who should buy this, and who shouldn't

If you camp, barbecue, or spend any time outdoors with a drink in hand, this is a solid bit of kit. It also works brilliantly for hot drinks, so one vessel for the morning coffee and the evening beer is not a bad proposition.

That said, it's not small. 0.7L is a pint and a bit. It won't slip into a bag pocket, and it's a bit ridiculous on a work desk unless your colleagues are very understanding. Also, no lid included. Fine for a stein, but worth knowing if you're picturing something spill-proof.

Personally, I think the Hammertone Green colourway is the one to get. It looks properly good, not like a promotional freebie. At this price point, it's hard to grumble.
