What even is this?
So Twix has done a hazelnut caramel version. The classic format is still there: biscuit base, caramel layer, chocolate coat. But now there's a hazelnut note running through it. Think somewhere between the original Twix and a Ferrero Rocher, if those two had a slightly less glamorous offspring.
Personally, I was sceptical. Hazelnut is one of those flavours that gets slapped on things hoping to ride the Nutella wave, and half the time it just tastes of vague nuttiness and disappointment. This one, though, is not half bad. The hazelnut is subtle, more of a background warmth than a full-on praline hit. It doesn't overpower the caramel, which is the right call.
Who's this actually for?
If you already like Twix, you'll probably enjoy this. It's a small twist, not a reinvention. Good for an afternoon desk snack, school lunchboxes, or that kitchen drawer at work that everyone raids at 3pm.
It's not for you if you're after a proper hazelnut experience. The flavour is there, but it's restrained. Some people will find that elegant. Others will just think they got a slightly off-brand Twix.
