What you're actually getting

Peroni Nastro Azzurro isn't trying to be a craft beer. It's a clean, crisp Italian lager at 5% ABV, and honestly it does that job well. Pale straw colour, light bitterness, goes down easy when it's cold. Nothing surprising, nothing offensive. It's the kind of thing you crack open in the garden and don't have to think too hard about.

The 24-pack of 330ml bottles is the right format too. Cans are fine, but bottles feel a bit more considered when you're having people round.

Who this is actually for

Look, if you're a lager snob, Peroni isn't going to change your life. And if you're happy with own-brand supermarket lager, this will feel like an unnecessary upgrade. But there's a solid middle ground here: people who want something that looks decent on the table, drinks smoothly, and won't embarrass them when guests arrive.

I took a 24-pack to a housewarming last summer. Nobody complained. A few people actually commented on it. That's probably the best endorsement I can give a mainstream lager.

The Subscribe and Save angle

The headline price drops noticeably when you stack the Subscribe and Save discount with the on-page voucher. Just remember to cancel the subscription after if you don't want cases arriving every month. Amazon makes that easy enough, to be fair. The community heat on HotUKDeals (869 degrees at time of writing) suggests plenty of people have already spotted this one, so stock could shift quickly.
