Nine quid. Less than a meal deal if you're shopping at the wrong supermarket. The Casio F-91W is one of those objects that just exists, quietly, without needing your validation. Resin case, fabric strap, a tiny digital display that shows the time, date, and not much else. It's light to the point where you occasionally forget it's on your wrist, which is either a feature or a flaw depending on how you look at things.
I lent one to a mate who was going camping and didn't want to risk his proper watch. He came back asking where to buy his own. That's the F-91W in a nutshell.
Who this is actually for
If you want something to wear while decorating, travelling somewhere sketchy, or just need a second watch that doesn't require charging every two days, this is spot on. The battery lasts around seven years. Seven. Your phone charger will die multiple times before this thing needs attention.
It's not for you if you want any kind of style statement beyond understated. The display is small and not the easiest to read in dim light, honest reservation that. The backlight exists but it's more of a suggestion than a torch.
The honest bit
At this price there's basically no argument against owning one. It's not trying to be anything it isn't. Waterproof enough for daily life, reliable, and so cheap that losing it on holiday won't ruin your week. Proper no-brainer purchase if you need a functional, unfussy watch and don't want to spend actual money on one.
