Who this is actually for

Look, if you're not on iPhone, stop reading. AirTags are Apple-only in any meaningful sense and there's no point pretending otherwise. But if you are on iPhone, and you regularly misplace your keys, wallet, bag, or (no judgement) your dog's lead, the second-gen 4-pack is quietly one of the most sensible purchases you can make.

The update over the first gen is mostly about precision. The new UWB chip gives you sharper directional finding, so instead of vaguely circling your living room like a confused Roomba, your phone actually points you at the thing. My mate Sarah lost her handbag down the back of a hire car seat in Edinburgh and had it back in under two minutes. That kind of thing sticks with you.

The honest reservations

The setup is dead simple, battery life is still solid (about a year on a CR2032), and the Find My network is enormous. Four tags in one box makes sense because, honestly, one is never enough once you start.

That said, the stalking prevention features, while improved, can still throw up phantom alerts if you're borrowing someone's bag. Minor annoyance more than a real problem, but worth knowing.

At this price with the voucher applied, it's not a dramatic discount but it's fair value for a product that's had a proper spec bump. If you've been on the fence since gen one, now's a reasonable moment.
