What you're actually getting
For a tenner, this is a 65W GaN charger with proper PD 3.1 support. That means it'll fast-charge most modern laptops, not just phones. My old MacBook Air brick is twice the size and half as clever. I've been using a similar GaN unit for about a year and the difference in bag weight is honestly noticeable after a long commute.
The Amazon Basics branding puts some people off. Fair enough. But these days Amazon manufactures a lot of this stuff to perfectly respectable standards. It's not a Anker or a Ugreen, but at this price, that comparison barely holds up.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
If you're charging a Nintendo Switch, a phone, or a lightweight laptop, this is spot on. One port, 65W, compact body. That's really it.
Where it falls short: only one port. If you're the sort of person who travels with a laptop, phone, earbuds and a watch all needing juice simultaneously, you'll be frustrated pretty quickly. Get a multi-port GaN instead.
Also worth noting: PPS support means Android phones that support Samsung's fast charging protocol will charge faster than with a standard PD charger. Not a massive deal for most, but not half bad if you're on a Galaxy.
The honest take
There's no massive discount here, it's just a genuinely low price for a competent piece of kit. For anyone who keeps losing chargers, leaves one at the office, or wants a spare for a bag, this is a proper no-brainer. Wouldn't call it exciting. Mate, it's a charger. But it does the job without fuss.
